The most common ways of getting around Iligan are still the jeepney, taxi, sikad (foot-pedaled tricycle), tartanilla (horse-driven carriage), and the habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire).
And if you’re going from Iligan to its neighboring towns, there's always the bus. Don't worry, the highways and local roads are fairly good.
First, let's take a look at the jeepney .
They're everywhere. If you want to travel within Iligan city's boundaries, jeepney is the way.
Now, what if your family holiday includes a trip to Timoga swimming pools?
Well, your best bet is to get a “pakyaw” (rent a jeepney for the day - a one time agreed fee for the duration).
You and your family will be dropped off in front of the pool resort. And when you're ready to go home, the jeepney driver will take you away. There's nothing like this anywhere!
When Comfort Is What You're Looking For... Then Take the Taxi!
Getting around Iligan in a taxi is one comfortable way to enjoy what the city has to offer especially during the hot summer days. Taking the taxi may be the only way for some of you out there. Yes, you!
It is still inexpensive. Plus, it will save you time a hassle.
So, don't be afraid to splurge a little.
Iligan taxi is never far away when you ready to visit some of
Iligan's restaurants.
Let the taxi driver know if you want to be picked up after dinner. Now, that's what I call service. And don't forget to give a few extra pesos for the driver! or dollars!
Be adventurous...Ride the Bus!
Traveling to neighboring towns and municipalies from Iligan is done by bus.
They're comfortable and cheap. They're really are your best option when traveling great distances.
Look here, if you want to go from Iligan to Cagayan de Oro the bus ride is just just under two hours and and for just a little over Php 100. That is equivalent to a little bit more than two US dollars.
You also have the option of taking an air-airconditioned or non-airconditioned bus. But of course, the air-conditioned buses are just little bit more than the ones without.
But I'm sure you will agree that riding in comfort is the way to go!
Or, if you are going the opposite direction to Kapatagan, the fare is less than Php100. The bus travel from Iligan to Kapatagan is just a little over two hour ride.
