Your vacation to the Philippines is meant to be your escape from the stresses of your daily routine.

So don't let small worries ruin your much deserved vacation. Taking the necessary precautions and our list of some Philippine travel tips will help you and everyone involve.

There's so much to think about when planning your trip.
Deciding when to go, how to find your way around, what to pack, worrying about possible emergencies while there...and how to best travel with small children are just a few concerns you will have.

And we can help you with all that. You can find out all that and about the weather, cultural activities and festivals, maps, and more in these pages before you go.

Here are some practical Philippine travel tips:

1. Check airline baggage limits for EVERY leg of your flight. Remember, domestic flights have much lower limits and you will pay for excess.

2. Keep a copy of all your flight information to include birth certificates, photo id, and airlines tickets and reservations. Bonus Tip: Make an extra copy of your passport and keep it safe.

3. Don't schedule a connection flight shorter than three hours. This will give you plenty of time to go through customs and immigration and for luggage pick up.

4. Pack a change of clothes and small toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, and others) onto the plane with you.

5. Pack small first aid kit and your medications.

6. When packing for your carry on, place items you need in flight at the very top to make it easier to find.

7. Don't get upset with your airline staff. They're there to serve you and help you make your flight comfortable.

8. Check to make sure your cellphone works in the Philippines if you are planning to take it. Philippines uses 220 volts.

9. Take enough cash. Cash is king in the Philippines!

10. Be respectful of others when boarding the plane.

11. Get a list of phone numbers of the nearest US and Philippine Embassies.

12. A small pouch or purse to keep your money and all important documents.

13. Bring reading materials.

14. Check the weather.

15. When traveling with kids, it's always helpful to take extra snacks and other useful items like band aids, hand gels, tissue packs and ibuprofen. And don't forget their crayons, books, paper, deck of cards, zip lock bags, Ipod or MP3 player.

16. Make sure you pack a few personal items you might need:

  • sun glasses
  • hats/visors
  • umbrella
  • light wind breaker
  • camera
  • cellphones and chargers
  • sun screen
  • laptop
  • personal hygiene items

What to pack?

Packing the right clothes is very important.

You might consider taking both casual and formal clothes. For ordinary days, shorts, tees, Capri pants, sneakers, slippers and simple tees are just fine. Your bikinis, sunscreen lotion, flip flops, sunglasses, are your necessities for the beach.

For the night time something a little formal will do the trick. Try something strapless for women and for men, trousers and blazer may do. Dressing up does not mean that you have to be very fancy, all you need to have is presentable clothes and easy to carry.

When packing, bring what is only important and your must-haves. Packing light will help you have extra room for all the Pasalubong going and coming back.

Hint: Take clothes you don't expect to bring back.
